1. Who we are and what this covers
This policy applies to the Pagefellow iOS app, the Pagefellow servers it connects to, and the pages on pagefellow.top (including invitation and share pages). In this policy, “Pagefellow”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the Pagefellow service. Pagefellow is currently offered in the United States App Store.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to provide the features you use. All of it is linked to your Pagefellow account.
- Account identifiers. When you first use the app we create an anonymous account with a random identifier. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable identifier from Apple for your Apple account.
- Name. Only if you choose to share it the first time you use Sign in with Apple, or if you set a display name. It is shown to members of your reading circles.
- Your reading data and content. Reading progress, highlights, notes, follow-up thoughts, the questions you ask, your conversations with characters, notes you post in reading circles, reports you file and people you block, and books you upload.
- Customer support. Your private feedback and map-correction reports, the relevant book version and source location, team replies and read status. Email is optional; you can follow replies in My Feedback. If you choose, feedback also includes the app version and device model.
- Purchases. The status of your Pagefellow Pro subscription, separate AI and Book Map credit balances, reservations and refunds, and the App Store transaction information Apple provides to confirm a purchase. Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your card number or other payment details.
- Settings. Preferences such as interface language, assistant persona, recap and Ask settings, progress-sharing and notification choices, and your time zone (used to reset daily limits at your local midnight).
- App Store region. The country of your App Store account, used to show only the library books that are available where you are.
- Push notifications and message receipts. Notification choices are separate for circles, service incidents or maintenance, and private team replies. If enabled, we store your push token, device platform, app version and App Store region to send the notifications you chose. Lock-screen text never includes your book title or private support messages. We also keep version-specific notice retrieval, actual display and reading receipts to operate the message service. These records are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Technical information. Like any online service, our servers process the IP address and request details of each connection in order to respond, keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not track you. We do not link your data with data from other companies’ apps or websites for advertising, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- The app contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics SDKs.
- No voice recordings. “Hold to talk” is recognized on your device. Only the resulting text is sent, the same as if you had typed it.
- We do not collect your precise or coarse location, contacts, photos, health data or browsing history.
- We do not sell your personal information.
4. How we use information
We use the information above only to:
- provide the app’s features, including sync across your devices, AI features, reading circles and listening;
- grant and restore your subscription, included allowances and purchased credits, confirm bounded AI charges, and apply independent service and fair-use limits;
- answer your support requests;
- keep Pagefellow safe, including reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms of Use and preventing fraud and abuse;
- comply with the law.
We do not use your information for advertising or to build marketing profiles.
5. AI features
When you use an AI feature (asking a question, a recap, a book map, letters, quizzes or a conversation with a character), we send the request to an AI model provider hosted in the United States. A request contains what the feature needs: your question or message, the relevant passages of the book and, for follow-ups, the earlier turns of the same conversation. Unless you choose the whole book, passages are limited to the part you have already read.
- We do not use your notes, questions, conversations or uploaded books to train AI models, and we do not allow our AI providers to use them for training.
- We do not send your name or Apple account details to AI providers.
- AI output can be wrong. Answers point to the passages they rely on, and character conversations are AI interpretations based on the original text, not the author’s words.
Reading aloud uses the voices built into your device. The text being read is not sent to us or to any other provider.
6. Books you upload
You can upload books you have the right to read. An uploaded file is stored privately in your account. Its text is available only to you: it is never shown to, or shared with, other users, including members of your circles. To make the book readable we split it into chapters. To prepare questions, the book text may be processed by our approved United States embedding provider to build a private search index; this does not publish the book or create a Book Map. If you ask for a book map, the text is processed by an AI provider as described above. When you delete an uploaded book or your account, the file and its derived data are deleted.
7. Reading circles and share links
- Circles. A circle is a private group of up to eight readers. Members can see your display name, the notes you post in the circle and how far you have read in that book. You can turn off “Share my chapter progress” in Settings. A note becomes visible to each member only when they reach the passage it is attached to.
- Invitations. An invitation link lets anyone who has it ask to join that circle for 7 days. Share it only with people you want to read with.
- Reports and blocks. You can report content or a member and block people. Reports, including the reported content, are reviewed by our team to keep Pagefellow safe.
- Share links for character conversations. If you share a conversation, you choose up to six turns. Anyone with the link can see those turns, the book’s title and author, the characters’ names and a note that the conversation is an AI interpretation. Your account details are not included. Links stop working after 30 days, when you revoke them in the app, or when you delete the conversation or your account.
8. Service providers
We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf to run Pagefellow, and only what each one needs:
- Cloud hosting and storage (United States): our databases and files.
- AI model providers (United States): AI requests as described in section 5.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases and push notifications.
The current list of providers, and what each receives, is shown in the app under Settings › Data processors. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
9. Where data is stored and how it is protected
Our servers and storage are located in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit, and access to production systems is limited to the people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach where the law requires.
10. How long we keep data
- We keep your account data for as long as your account exists.
- Notes you post in a circle stay there until you delete them, you delete your account, or the circle closes. When the last member leaves, the circle, its notes and its invitations are deleted.
- Share links expire after 30 days. Invitations expire after 7 days.
- Deleted data is removed from backups within 30 days.
- After account deletion we keep a minimal record of App Store transactions (a random identifier and transaction fingerprints, not linked to your name or content) to prevent the same purchase being claimed twice and to meet legal and tax obligations.
- To prevent repeated claims of the same one-time free-credit benefit, we retain a keyed fingerprint of your verified Apple identity while we offer that benefit, including after account deletion. It contains no email address or book text, but may remain linkable to the same Apple identity. This eligibility record is kept separate from deleted content.
- Private feedback, replies and correction reports are deleted with your account. Unconfirmed operations and drafts are saved in device-only Keychain storage for safe retries and cleared before account deletion. Public service notices contain no private support or book information.
11. Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings › Delete Account. This deletes your account and the data on our servers, including your synced library, uploaded books, progress, highlights, notes, conversations, circle memberships and the notes you shared in circles. Your share links stop working. You can follow the status until it is complete. If you created a circle, the member who joined earliest becomes its new owner.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Pagefellow Pro subscription, because Apple manages billing. Cancel it in your Apple account settings first (see Support). If you cannot open the app, email us from the address you used in a previous support request, or include details that let us find your account, and we will help.
12. Your choices and rights
- Turn sync, progress sharing, recaps, Ask settings and notifications on or off in Settings.
- Export your notes from the Notes tab.
- Edit or delete highlights, notes and uploaded books at any time, and revoke share links you created.
- Delete your account in the app.
Depending on where you live, including California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email wecwinning@gmail.com. We may need to verify that the account is yours before acting on a request.
13. Children
Pagefellow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
